Bluebell Park is a new development consisting of 101 extra care apartments for rent and 21 new build apartments for sale. The facility will include various communal areas such as a restaurant, lounge areas, hairdressers, activity and hobby rooms.
The building is on target to achieve BREEAM Very Good with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) boilers, which capture and re-use the heat produced in day-to-day electricity usage, being installed to lower residents’ energy bills.
The development has ambitious local regeneration targets with a recruitment programme providing 624 weeks of training (52 weeks per £1million turnover) being implemented. Commitment has also been made to contribute at least £5 of community benefit for every £1 of construction spend.
Our Trainee Site Manager, Katie Kay, is one of the local people benefitting from the opportunities this project offers. Katie completed her HNC in 2013 and is now working towards a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management. She has been involved in a number of career and recruitment events across Merseyside, aimed at inspiring other young people from within the local area to consider a career within construction.
Sophie Jones is another apprentice at Bluebell Park who was inspired to apply after hearing Katie speak at one of those local recruitment events. Sophie said, “That first step into employment was a huge one for me, but I was inspired by Katie to just go for it. I never considered a career in construction, but I am learning every day and look forward to completing my NVQ level 2 and progressing to my level 3.”
Liverpool and former England Captain, Steven Gerrard was proud to lend his support at the event to launch the new development.
“I think this is great for the locals, especially the elderly who are going to benefit from this and it is close to my heart because it’s where I grew up.”
